Alongside my coaching, I also work with organisations to design and deliver career development programmes that support people at key transition points.Through my Soul Search – Research – Job Search framework, I help individuals and groups gain clarity about what truly fits, explore options with confidence, and take practical steps toward change. My work blends career strategy with mindset and inner work, so people don’t just make a move—they make the right move.

Why I'm in the NZ Businesswomen
I joined New Zealand Businesswomen because I wanted to be part of a supportive, down-to-earth community of women who get what it’s like to run a business.I love connecting with other women, sharing ideas, learning from each other, and being part of a space where we can grow our businesses without having to do it all on our own. The focus on community, collaboration, and backing women to succeed really resonates with me.
I’m looking forward to meeting new people, building genuine connections, and growing alongside other women in business.
Testimonials
"Liz is a hidden gem; if you've found her, take this as a sign and invest in yourself today! She is more than a career and life coach; she will support you in realising your dreams and help you unearth things that you may not recognise as roadblocks on your path. By addressing these roadblocks, so many layers are shed and as a result of this radical self-inquiry, actualisation occurs. This work is amazing.Liz has an extraordinarily effective way of supporting someone reach their full potential" Amanda
"Coaching with Liz was an absolute highlight. I have invaluable insights into myself that will stay with me for my lifetime. She is warm and holds a safe space for you, but also challenges you and stretches your thinking. Seeing how my fear of making the wrong decision or failing was holding me back from taking any action was game changing. The most powerful thing that has shifted, has been taking more responsibility for my own success which gave me back a sense of control and expanded my sphere of influence." Taylor
“This program gave me the clarity I’ve been craving for years. I now know what I want—and how to get it. I landed a role that fits my life and values, and I didn’t have to start over or take a pay cut.” Group Coaching Participant, 2023
“What surprised me the most was how much I got from being in the group. Hearing others ask the same questions I was afraid to say out loud, and having someone to check in with each week—it made all the difference.” Group Coaching Participant 2024
"Before working with Liz I knew I had another career in me but I wasn’t sure how to find the answers I needed. Pathfinder provided a comprehensive framework that helped me learn so much about myself and where I want to go. It turned out all of the answers were inside me, I just needed someone to ask the right questions! Liz provided support and insight throughout, and I loved connecting with other group members. Finding Liz and Pathfinder has been life changing; I’ve found a new direction that feels right for me and I’m excited about what’s ahead." Abby, 2024 Pathfinder Group Coaching Participant

My point of difference
Most career professionals sit in one of two camps: those who help clients gain clarity and then leave them to figure out the rest, or those who focus purely on job search tactics like CVs, interviews, and the hidden job market. What’s rare is someone who supports the entire journey in one cohesive experience. That’s what I do.My work is built around a simple principle: clarity before strategy. Career change isn’t just about getting the next job—it’s about first understanding what truly fits, and then building a strategy to move toward it. My Soul Search – Research – Job Search framework brings these stages together so clients aren’t left guessing or doing it alone.
I’ve spent over 20 years in career development, including eight years as a career consultant at University of Auckland. I founded Liz Barry Ltd to bring this same holistic, practical support to mid-career professionals—particularly women—who are often navigating change in isolation.
A key part of my work is delivering this support in community. Through group coaching, clients benefit not only from my guidance but from the collective wisdom, encouragement, and accountability of others on a similar path. Much like New Zealand Businesswomen, I see community as a powerful catalyst for confidence, momentum, and sustainable growth.
I also integrate mindset and inner work, using tools inspired by Byron Katie, to help clients work through fear, self-doubt, and limiting beliefs. For many, this inner shift is what finally allows forward movement.
My practice is global and digital-first, supporting clients across New Zealand, Australia, the UK, the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East—offering high-touch, personalised coaching regardless of location, and proving the framework’s relevance across industries, cultures, and life stages.
