The Nodder Group
I work on problems that don’t make sense.
If the solution isn’t working, there’s a good chance you haven’t found the real problem yet.

I work with owners and senior leaders in hospitality and service-led businesses, including leaders responsible for multiple properties or operations. Sometimes there’s a problem that doesn’t make sense and they need someone to get close to what’s actually happening and work out why. Other times they need someone outside the business they trust to think things through with and give them a straight answer. That can be a one-off piece of work or an ongoing Strategic Advisory relationship.
I figure out what’s actually driving a problem before you spend more time and money trying to fix the wrong thing. Sometimes the problem you can see isn’t the problem you actually have. I get close to what’s happening in the business, look at it from different angles and follow the evidence until it makes sense.
I don’t come in with a framework and try to make your business fit it. I want to see what’s actually happening. That means getting beyond reports, assumptions and “this is how we’ve always done it” and closer to the people and operation itself. I’m not there to prove anyone right or wrong. I’m there to work out what’s true.
Established hospitality and service-led businesses, particularly those dealing with difficult people, operational or customer experience problems, and senior leaders responsible for multiple properties or operations.
You get a clearer picture of what’s actually happening before deciding what to do about it. You have someone independent who can get closer to the operation when you can’t be everywhere yourself, tell you what they’re actually seeing and help you think through what needs to happen next. And instead of spending more time and money trying things that don’t address the real issue, you can make decisions based on what’s actually happening.
Spending money fixing the wrong problem. Sending someone on another training course when training isn’t the issue. Introducing a new system without understanding why the old one isn’t working. Making decisions based on reports that don’t tell the whole story. Treating symptoms while the real problem carries on underneath them. And for leaders overseeing multiple operations, it also means not having to rely entirely on information that has passed through several layers before it reaches them.
The Nodder Group works with hospitality and service-led businesses on problems that don’t make sense. I work across the business to understand what’s actually happening, what’s driving the problem and what needs to change. I also provide Strategic Advisory for owners and senior leaders who want someone they trust to think things through with, challenge assumptions and help them make sense of what’s happening across the business.
Advisory: Complex problem discovery, Strategic Advisory and ongoing support for owners and senior leaders. I get close to what’s actually happening, understand the different perspectives involved and follow the evidence until the problem makes sense. From there, we can work out what actually needs to change.
I joined NZ Businesswomen because I wanted to get out from behind my laptop and actually know more people in business. I’m interested in how other people think, what they’re building, what they’ve learned and the problems they’re dealing with. I’d much rather build genuine relationships with people over time than collect business cards and call it networking.
Got something happening in your business that you can’t quite make sense of? Tell me about it. I genuinely love pulling these things apart and figuring out what’s actually going on. I’m happy to have an initial conversation, ask some questions and see where it leads. If it’s something I can help with properly, we can go from there.
The Nodder Group is currently focused on growing its Advisory work with established hospitality and service-led businesses. I’m particularly interested in the problems that don’t have an obvious answer where something isn’t working, the usual fixes haven’t changed much, or what’s happening just doesn’t quite add up. I’m also building longer-term Strategic Advisory relationships with senior leaders who value having someone they trust to call when something needs proper thought.
