Georgina Pauling, Base Law

Business overview

Base Law is a legal platform that brings together experienced lawyers who each run their own practices, rather than operating within a traditional law firm structure. This model allows me to retain full autonomy over my work, client relationships, and areas of specialisation, while benefiting from shared infrastructure and professional support.

A key advantage is access to a broad network of legal expertise across other practice areas. Where a client’s matter requires input beyond my area of practice, I can readily draw on trusted colleagues with specialist knowledge, without the constraints or overheads associated with a conventional firm model.

This flexible, contemporary way of practising allows me to offer personalised service with the depth of a wider professional network. It combines the independence and accountability of working for myself with the reassurance that expert input is available when needed, ensuring clients receive well-rounded and high-quality legal advice.

Products and services I offer

I provide estate planning advice in relation to wills, trusts (formation, wind-ups, variations and change of trustees) and enduring powers of attorney. I also assist executors in the administration of deceased estates and advise clients on moving into retirement villages, helping them to review and sign off their Occupation Right Agreements.

Why I'm in the NZ Businesswomen

I became a New Zealand Businesswomen member to meet like minded business women from different backgrounds and industries. Making such important connections not only helps me to develop and grow but also gives my clients the advantage of a broad network that they can benefit from.

My point of difference

Working for myself allows me to be flexible with when and how I meet with clients. I conduct meetings over the phone or via Teams/Zoom, or I can meet clients in person (in their homes, out for coffee or anywhere that works for them). This is important for busy people and for elderly clients who prefer not to travel for appointments.
